Where it started

Can Junqué is a farmhouse in Ullà, below the Montgrí massif, with rural holiday apartments, a pool and gardens.

Its old logo read “Can Junqué Restaurant”. It needed a clearer brand that worked on the web without losing the rural character of the house, and a channel of its own to take direct bookings and rely less on Airbnb and Booking.com.

What we decided

  1. A clearer brand

The old logo was handwritten lettering over a photo of the pool, with the word “Restaurant”. The new one is cleaner, reads well at small sizes and looks the same in the website header, on phones and on the roadside sign.

  2. Photos of the place before the website

In tourism, guests decide on how a place makes them feel before they arrive. That is why we took the photos of the place before designing the pages. The home page opens with the farmhouse and the pool at dusk, with the date search right below.

  3. Book and pay without leaving the website

Guests choose their dates and the number of people, see which apartments are free, open the one they like and confirm the booking with a card payment. It all happens on canjunque.com.

Availability is synced with Airbnb and Booking.com, so Can Junqué can sell direct without losing control of its calendar.

How is the Can Junqué website built?

The Can Junqué website runs on WordPress with Elementor, a visual editor for changing text and photos without touching code. WPML makes it a multilingual website, in Catalan, Spanish, English and German. That way a visitor from abroad can read it in their own language.

MotoPress Hotel Booking is the booking engine. It shows which days are free and takes the direct booking without leaving canjunque.com. Card payment goes through WooCommerce and Redsys, the payment gateway that Spanish banks use. The calendar is synced with Airbnb and Booking.com, so the same day cannot be booked twice.

What else did we do besides the website?

Besides the website, we have run the Google Business Profile, the SEO, the Google Ads campaigns and the newsletter. We also made the sign on the road that leads to the farmhouse, 500 metres away.

The Google Business Profile is the listing that shows up on Google Maps and in search when someone looks for a rural holiday home in the Empordà. From there, people can go to the website and book direct.

SEO for a rural holiday home is the work of making it show up on Google when someone looks for a place to stay in the area. Unlike ads, there is no charge per visit.

The Google Ads campaigns take people straight to the website, where they can book without going through Airbnb or Booking.com. The newsletter keeps in touch with past guests, to bring them back.

The sign reads “allotjament rural, casaments i esdeveniments”, Catalan for rural accommodation, weddings and events. It carries the same brand as the website, so drivers on that road recognise the house.
